My name is Shawn Parker. I am a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC), Licensed Processional Counselor Associate (LPCA), and a Licensed Certified Abuse Specialist Associate (LCASA). I have experience in individual, family, and psychosocial rehabilitation group counseling, assisting individuals with issues such as self-esteem, time management, anger management, behavioral difficulties, child and adolescent development, family communication, and substance abuse. I also have experience in providing services for individuals of all ages, lifestyles, ethnicity/cultural backgrounds, religious faiths, and diverse socioeconomic status. I am extremely excited about the opportunity to service my community and the individuals and families represented.

Counseling is a collaborative effort between the clinician and the client. I strive to create a warm and caring atmosphere with unconditional positive regard so that the client will feel safe and respected while receiving services.

My theoretical approach is based on cognitive behavioral techniques and person centered thinking which focuses on the idea that our thoughts are the foundation of our feelings and behaviors. CBT allows individuals the opportunity to examine faulty thought processes while gaining insight that leads to more positive choices.
